Defence witness makes his debut -
Ursa member and racing fans, today is an exciting day as Defence Witness makes his first appearance under the training of Sam England in the 5:15 at Southwell. It’s always thrilling to see how a horse adapts to new surroundings, and we’re hoping for a strong performance as he settles into his new routine.
A Promising Acquisition
Last time we saw Defence Witness in action, he put in a solid effort, finishing third behind our very own Punxsutawney Phil. That performance showed plenty of promise, and when the opportunity arose, we were more than happy to bring him into our ownership and send him to the ever-reliable Sam England yard.
Since joining the team, he’s been getting accustomed to his new environment, benefiting from a fresh training regime designed to bring out the best in him. If there’s one thing we know about Sam England’s operation, it’s that they don’t mess about. Just take a look at Suitably Surprised’s campaign last year as a perfect example.
The Race: 5:15 at Southwell
Defence Witness lines up today in the 5:15 at Southwell, a competitive handicap hurdle that should provide a good test of his current form. The field includes some experienced rivals, but we’re optimistic that he can put in a bold showing. Given that he already holds two further entries later in the week, it’s clear that the team has confidence in his ability.
Expectations and Strategy
While this is his first run for us, we’re keen to see how he performs over this trip and under new training conditions. He’s already shown ability, and if he takes well to today’s challenge, there could be exciting times ahead. If all goes to plan, Defence Witness might not even need those additional entries could be a very shrewd move!
Fingers crossed for a strong effort today—let’s see if he can surprise us all with a winning run at Southwell!
