Dream Big

Since our formation in 2018, Dream Big has been the driving motto of our Racing Manager — and the spirit that built Ursa Major from the ground up. What began with a handful of friends and a shared vision has grown into one of the most exciting and fastest-developing syndicates in the UK.

Today, Ursa Major is home to over 40 horses and more than 300 owners nationwide. Despite our growth, we’ve stayed true to our roots: maintaining the warmth, family feel, and personal touch of a small syndicate while continually pushing to improve, progress, and offer our owners the very best experience in racing.

Our nomination for Large Racing Club/Syndicate of the Year at the 2025 ROA Awards is a proud milestone — and a testament to the incredible support of our owners, without whom none of this would have been possible.

The dream is still alive. The motivation is stronger than ever. And Ursa Major continues to rise year after year.

It doesn’t have to stay a dream for you either — join us on our journey

Our Stable Star

Chasingouttheblues and Mark after his Go North Final win!

There are some horses you always believe in from the very beginning — and for us, Chasingouttheblues has always been one of those horses.

From the first day he arrived at the yard of Mark Walford, we felt he had the raw ability, attitude and stamina to develop into something special. To now see him competing — and thriving — at such a high level has been incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.

What makes his rise even more satisfying is that he wasn’t an expensive, headline-making purchase. He was sourced for a relatively small price compared to the level he is now operating at, proving once again that success in racing is not always about spending fortunes — it’s about patience, placement, teamwork and believing in the horse standing in front of you.

This season has been nothing short of remarkable.

After progressing superbly through the staying chase ranks, Chasingouttheblues announced himself as a serious staying prospect when producing a hugely impressive performance to land the prestigious Go North Red Rum Series Final at Carlisle under Jamie Hamilton. Travelling strongly before staying on powerfully up the run-in, he showed exactly the toughness and determination we always felt he possessed.

That victory earned him a crack at one of the biggest staying handicaps of the entire season — the Scottish Grand National at Ayr.

To see a horse that came from humble beginnings line up in such an iconic race was already a proud moment for the team. But what followed made it even more special. Stepping into deep company against seasoned staying chasers, Chasingouttheblues ran an outstanding race to finish a fantastic fifth in the Scottish National, staying on all the way to the line and proving he belongs on the big stage.

He has become a real stable star — the type of horse every syndicate dreams of having. Honest, tough, progressive and with an attitude that makes everyone at home love him even more.

We couldn’t be prouder of what he has achieved already, and the most exciting part is that it still feels like there could be even more to come.
