WINNER: Ghadbbaan does it again!

It was an eighth trip of the year to the winners’ enclosure for Ursa Major Racing as Ghadbbaan made it two wins this flat season.

The stunning chestnut gelding was given a genuine peach of a ride by Phil Dennis who carried out a long-term plan to utter perfection to make almost every inch of the two mile trip at Ripon

We take our hats off to both Phil - who never once flustered with our front running plan - and trainer Mark Walford, who not only masterminded this epic 6/1 victory, but has also kept Ghadbbaan in such sweet form he has won in both March and September this flat season.

To find a horse for £5,000 who is capable of winning at Doncaster and Ripon and placing at York and Newmarket in one summer is remarkable and huge kudos must also go to our Racing Manger Craig Talbot for his fantastic buying prowess.

Craig said: “It was truly a special performance for a horse who means so much to everyone at Ursa. He is a warrior. Nothing fazes him. He is so tough and durable. If I could have 20 Ghadbbaan’s I would snap your hand off. But he is one of a kind.

“This had been the plan for some time after his fantastic third at York on our owners’ day. We knew he was back to his best after that and we tried something new and it paid off.

“I just want to thank all my owners for standing by us and continuing to believe. All I want is to give people the chance to live the dream and this horse has delivered again.”

Ghadbbaan has come out of the race is fine form and Mark and Craig will discuss a plan for his next race later this week.
