Cheltenham bound: Another Ursa first

All roads lead to Cheltenham this week, with Ashington set to become Ursa Major’s first runner at the home of jump racing.

It has been a dream since day one for the Battenberg colours to race at Prestbury Park and in Ashington, we look set to tick that goal off this Friday.

The Mark Walford trained seven-year-old is entered for the 2m5f Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at 1.10 and there is sure to be a large Ursa contingent on hand to cheer him home.

Racing Manager Craig Talbot said: “This is the start of an extremely exciting week for Ursa Major Racing and it has long been an ambition of mine to have our colours carried at Cheltenham.

“He ran an absolute blinder in third last time at Wetherby and he goes in great form. I am sure we will have plenty of Ursa Major owners on track to cheer him and I cannot wait.”

He is one of four runners entered across the country on Friday, with the Rebecca Menzies trained pair of Cabinet Maker and Texas Boy entered at Newcastle and last-time winner Kath’s Toyboy in at Wolverhampton.
