WINNERS! Stunning double on Ursa's greatest ever day

Ursa Major Racing recorded its first ever double - with Champagne Sarah and Kath’s Toyboy scoring in incredible fashion at Newcastle.

Both horses were given stunning rides by Kevin Stott under the handling of Mike Murphy and Michael Keady - the first time Ursa Major has recorded two winners in one day.

The incredible feat, delivered in front of 30 Ursa owners, was just reward for owners sticking with us despite the tough economic climate.

They were two of four runners on the night, with Cabinet Maker also running a fine race in fifth and Justathimble improving again in fourth.

Champagne Sarah, having her first nursery run, was given the coolest of rides by Stott, pushed to the front hands and heels and eased on the line.

He then repeated the trick with the cheekiest of rides on Kath’s Toyboy, waiting and waiting until delivering the quirkiest of characters on the line, going away by more than a length.

Craig Talbot, Racing Manager, said: “I am lost for words and quite emotional. Our first ever double and delivered at Newcastle.

“I want to thank Mike, Michael and Kevin for delivering in such fashion tonight and every single one of my owners for sticking by us through thick and thin.

“This is incredible. We have been through the ups and downs lately. We had to retire our flag-bearer Candescence, then Melburnian straight after she won over hurdles.

“So we deserve a bit of luck and this is just brilliant. That’s 11 winners this year and 28 in total since March 2018.

“Thank you to everyone - I said it would be a good winter and we have started in style.”
