We are delighted to announce not just one new horse… but two new horses have been added to the Ursa Major Racing Club team!

ELLAND ROAD BOY was purchased by URSA Major Racing at the Tattersalls Feb Sales (05/02/2021) for £5,000 (Lot 304) from Kevin Ryan.

WORLD TITLE was the 2nd purchase on the day for URSA Major Racing at the Tattersalls Feb Sales (05/02/2021) for £4,000 (Lot 412) from Archie Watson.

After an unsuccessful first day attempting to purchase our Day One targets at the Online only sales, all hopes rested on Day Two being a success. Fortunately it duly proved to be the opposite to day one and saw the club acquire two absolute bargains, with scope for improvement on their current handicap marks.

ELLAND ROAD BOY was purchased with the main objective of staying in the UK and providing our Southern based English members with a permanent horse for the future. Not only was this the primary objective, but it saw the club gain a new Partnership with the Epsom based Adam West a trainer that has been on the Ursa wish list of trainers for quite some time. Elland Road Boy is a 3 year old colt currently rated 66 and could have bundles of improvement if potentially gelded down the line. The horse is in excellent condition and fit, he will likely have his debut for the club towards the end of Feb. He has already seen the winners enclosure at Southwell and is currently only 3lbs higher than that winning mark.

WORLD TITLE was earmarked as a replacement horse for the injured Sweettasteoflove and an Irish based horse for our expanded operation into the Irish territory. World Title will go to our Irish trainer Pat Murphy. 4K is an absolute bargain for this horse, he has won 3 times in 2019 in the North of England (Beverley and Ripon twice) including the 3rd time off an OR of 85. This 4 year old gelding is now rated 68 so he will be able to get into most races over in Ireland and will definitely be winning races.
