Furax Debuts at Catterick!

Furax made his eagerly anticipated debut at Catterick on 5th Feb 2021

The eagerly anticipated debut of Furax came to fruition on a dull and damp day over Hurdles at Catterick on Friday 5th February 2021. Furax ran in the kingmakerracedays.co.uk Celebrate Mary Harle's 101st Birthday Handicap Hurdle (Series Qualifier) a Class 3 0-125 race for 4 years old and over 3m1½f on Heavy going.

It’s fair to say the handicapper had heavily penalised Furax for his French exploits in previous seasons and had given him a huge disadvantage of 127 OR for his UK debut. Aidan Macdonald took 10lbs off the ride as Conditional Jockey for Micky Hammond and he certainly did not give our grey gelding a too hard of a time at the business end of the race.

Furax finished 69 lengths behind the winner in eleventh, but this is certainly not a disappointing debut run for him. Our members and all connections firmly believe this is just the beginning of an exciting journey for Furax; his ability and potential scope for improvement over fences are what really excite us.
