Weekly Update 01.02.2021
A new month and last week saw one of our quieter weeks at Ursa, mainly because the weather played havoc with the racing schedule. Virtually all the NH meeting this week were cancelled due to snow, frozen tracks or water-logging. At the time of writing, we have several entries across the week with some of them looking perilous due to the ongoing weather situation in the UK. We do have some exciting news on our future, so please be sure to read that section.
Mark Walford Horses Update
All our horses with Mark have continued with their training and preparations for the up coming Spring NH and Flat campaigns. The weather has played havoc with all URSA’s intended runners with Mark and his other runners. We tried to run Event Of Sivola in at least four meetings last week, but all of them were abandoned. We are hopeful that Sedgefield on 1st Feb might be the opportunity for Event to run, but as at writing there is an 11:30am inspection that will need to pass for the meeting to have a chance. UPDATE: Sedgefield 01.02.2021 abandoned due to parts of the track being frozen. Future entries for EOS being looked at.
Our Racing Manager Craig Talbot is hoping to attend the Walford yard this week (weather permitting) and provide video updates of all the URSA Major horses with Mark. You will see a separate post about this in the News Section.
Irish Horse Update
Sweettasteoflove will be entered for a race at Dundalk on Friday 5th February at their evening meeting. Please keep checking our social media pages for further news on the entry.
Micky Hammond Horse Update
Newcastle’s NH meeting for 2nd Feb was abandoned in advance of the meeting. Furax currently has an entry for Catterick on Friday 5th Feb but this meeting is also looking in doubt due to the weather situation.
Stephen Hanlon Horse Update
Mizen Master has settled in nicely at Stephen’s yard as you can see from the video below. We are hoping that Mizen will be entered for races in the early/mid part of Feb. Stephen and his team have been fantastic so far in their communication and updates that they are providing to our members. .
Racing Updates
No Runners this Week due to the NH Racing abandonments in the UK.
Future Horses, Runners & Plans
As at the time of writing Event of Sivola and Lets Go Lucky are due to race at Sedgefield and Wolverhampton on1st February respectively. Please see the video updates below for further insight into their runs from Mark Walford. It is certainly exciting to see LGL make her debut for the club after a year off the track! Members are excited to see her run in the Battenberg silks!
For the remainder of the month we can expect to see Furax, Sweetasteoflove and Mizen Master on the track and entered for races. Exciting times ahead as these are new horses for the club or have moved to new yards (Mizen Master) and will be making their runs in the Battenberg silks! In Furax’s case it will be his UK Debut full stop!
Our Southern Horse search is reaching a climax and our members have poured over the sales catalogues and Seller races to find a gem! We think we have found one or two! Please contact us if you want to get involved with our first permanent horse with a Southern trainer in the UK.
We also have a fantastic partnership deal involving owning shares in three horses over a 6-month period for a one-off payment. It will involve prize money for the horses owned for that period being distributed amongst owning members. This deal will be unlike any other you may have seen else whereas horses will be able to be swapped in and out, if any go on a break or do not run for whatever reason. To get involved please contact us for more information!
