We go again!
Its fair to say, last night did not go to plan. News this morning that both horses are ok was happily welcomed by owners.
Kalganov was up first, as as predicted by Michael and our racing manager Craig. The run was needed.- With Kalganov recentlty having a wind op. Horses normally need some time to realise that they can breathe freely. During the race you can see Kalganov take a step back but then run on- ultimately this has been the point he’s realised he can run and breathe! The handicapper should once again drop him and with the return of Rhys Elliott and his 7lb Claim. Should see Kalganov being competitve in the very near future.
Falcon Nine was up next - As our latest recruitment with new trainer Iain Jardine. We are still learining about Falcon and last night was definitely a learning curve! We decided to change tactics and lead from the front- a slight bump got him lit up and unfortunatly by the last furlong he was going backwards.- there is no denying it was a disspointing run. Racing manager Craig was first to admit he had got the tactics wrong and jockey Andrew Mullen added that we may be better going around a bend. In the end this was only the first race for Falcon nine who finished 2nd of the same mark only a matter of weeks ago. We got the tactics wrong but the horse is ok and we go again. Patience has paid off with alot of our horses but we have a feeling it wont be too long till Falcon is repaying our faith!
Today we have Darlo Pride running at Newcastle- Darlo was going for the top prize in the all-weather bonus scheme but this year has been anything but kind to Darlo owners- He was very unlucky in running in Janurary, we were unlucky not to pick up more points then with a little niggle after 1 run in Feburary, as much as everyone had eyes on the bonus. The horse always comes first! - A few weeks off with light training and medication see’s Darlo back today, with an unfavourable draw- luck will have to be on his side but he tries his heart out. In many eyes he has already reached ‘URSA LEGEND’ status - so whatever the outcome today. He has done us proud! Good luck and home safe!
