Craig was invited onto the show by Nick himself after their robust debate on Twitter regarding the recent high profile promotion by several media outlets of the Racehorse Club - A new Racing Club which has high profile ambassadors including Oisin Murphy and ITV Racing’s Ed Chamberlain. Craig was one of a number of Racing Club/Syndicate Managers which had criticised Racehorse Club’s Self Promotion as offering members of the public a chance to own a micro share of a horse for a one off fee. You can hear Craig speaking with Nick Luck approximately 5 minutes into the podcast.
URSA Major is not against other Racing Clubs or Syndicates offering micro-shares in horses per se, but feels strongly that they should not be promoted as opportunities to experience real horse ownership, with real prize money or racecourse experience opportunities, because they are not that. They have their place in the ownership model and marketplace, but so do clubs like URSA Major equally so.
URSA Major prides itself on offering REAL ownership with a 2.5% share ownership starting point at cost price including monthly training fees. URSA Major’s owners not only get to see their horses at the training yard or racecourse, they also have an equal vote on race targets, jockey bookings and all elements of decision making related to the horses career on the track (and most of the time off it too).
