Hexham race to honour Event of Sivola

Our legendary six time winner Event of Sivola will be remembered with a race named in his honour at Hexham on Saturday.

Event loved running at the track, with two wins and six places from 10 starts - and the Hexham Legend Event of Sivola Memorial Chase will be run this weekend in his memory.

The 10 year old lost his life during a race earlier this month after spending more than five happy and successful years with Mark Walford and Ursa Major.

Ashington is entered to run in the race and would make a fitting winner should things come together.

The race has been named thanks to Ursa Major owners who came together to fund the sponsorship.

Craig Talbot, Racing Manager, said: “It is a truly fitting way to remember Event and a lovely thing for our owners to pull together and do.

“We will raise a glass to our chasing legend and enjoy a fine evening of racing at one of our absolute favourite tracks.”
