WINNER: Champagne Sarah has Royal Ascot in her sights after Yarmouth win
The corks are truly popping after Champagne Sarah bagged her second win in a week and booked her entry at Royal Ascot.
Winning under a clever ride from Billy Loughnane at Yarmouth, the Mike Murphy and Michael Keady trained three year old filly looked in total control throughout, picking up the £5,652 first prize.
But more importantly than that – Sarah will now be entered in the Palace of Hollyroodhouse Handicap over 5f at Royal Ascot next week – should she run it will be Ursa Major’s biggest day yet.
Champagne Sarah has now won three races and her win today was Ursa’s tenth in 2023 and 39th overall.
Craig Talbot, Racing Manager, said: “That was really special and I want to thank Mike and Michael and the team at home for turning her out in such brilliant form just a week on from her last victory.
“I also want to thank her brilliant owners, especially Lewis who named her after his lovely wife Sarah.
“We will look to enter at Royal Ascot now should she come out of the race fine and hopefully she will get a penalty to get in.
“These are seriously exciting times for everyone associated with Ursa and I want to thank everybody for their support, it means a lot.”
