Owners enjoy Dr Richard Newland stable tour to meet Mr Hailstone
A group of Ursa owners made the most of the sunny Saturday morning to enjoy a trip to meet our newest trainer - Dr Richard Newland - and most recent winner, Mr Hailstone.
Around a dozen owners visited Urloxhey Stables in Worcestershire, where they were greeted with Battenberg cakes and hot drinks before being given a personal tour of the outstanding facilities the Grand National winning handler has.
With huge, airy boxes, a 6f all weather gallop and a deep sand round gallop, the purpose-built yard has everything you could wish for to cater for every horse’s needs - all designed by the trainers wife.
The group, who had celebrated Mr Hailstone’s incredible win at Chepstow earlier this month spent two hours with Richard, Racing Director Dan Abraham and Assistant Trainer Wayne Jones.
Watching two lots, they also got to chat to Richard about his career which saw him win the 2014 National with Pineau De Re.
Andrew Morris, one of the owners who attended, said: “It was an incredible morning and the stables there are state-of-the-art with everything designed to keep the horses happy mentally and physically.
“Richard, Dan and Wayne were outstanding hosts and it was great to see Mr Hailstone doing work - he looks ready to run again very soon.
“Thanks to the team for their very warm welcome and we can’t wait to celebrate more success together.”
