Aclaim To Fame to kick off massive week

It’s set to be a huge week for Ursa Major - with potentially four runners bidding for victory.

We have a debut for three-year-old filly Aclaim To Fame; Ursa legend Event of Sivola heads to Wetherby, while Champagne Sarah and Wreck It Ryley are both entered in a classy sprint at Lingfield on Good Friday.

The week starts on Tuesday with the Rebecca Menzies trained Aclaim To Fame heading to Thirsk for a 5f maiden under Joanna Mason.

It’s the culmination of a long road to the racecourse for our wonderfully patient owners, who got involved when Amber was bought from the Breeze Ups last year - becoming our record signing in the process.

She has battled bravely against a couple of set backs at 2 and is now poised to repay those owners who have stood by her - and we are hopeful of a really fun year ahead.

Event of Sivola has come out of his brave third at Hexham over 4m in good nick and the nine-year-old Mark Walford trained staying chaser heads to Wetherby on Thursday all being well, where he will drop back to 3m.

He is an Ursa stalwart and has remarkably run in our colours in five National Hunt seasons, winning three times in the Battenbergs.

Good Friday then sees both Champagne Sarah (Mike Murphy and Michael Keady) and Wreck It Ryley (Grant Tuer) entered in the £23k-to-the-winner All Weather Vase at Lingfield over 6f.

Sarah and Ryley are two of our most exciting young horses, both already winning for us, and we expect them to progress as this season develops - this looks a fantastic option for both.

Racing Manager Craig Talbot said: “You can really tell things are stepping up a gear now with the wraps coming off some of our flat string and some cracking jumps action too.

“It’s a massive week with four possible runners and I would be hopeful of some very positive runs. I hope all our fantastic owners have a superb time following their horses.”
