Delight as Ashington joins Ursa Major

Seven time winner Ashington has become the latest horse to join Ursa Major Racing ready for a jumps campaign with Mark Walford.

The seven year old gelding has won on the flat, over hurdles and fences and looks ripe for a successful national hunt season after winning a £10,000-to-the-winner Class 2 hurdle in March this year.

Prolific throughout his career, he has placed form at Cheltenham as well as wins at Hexham, Sedgefiled, Musselburgh, Brighton and Newmarket.

He will be aimed at the Go North series and will be winning races again this season.

Craig Talbot, Racing Manager, said: “We are over the moon to add regular winner Ashington to the ranks and he looks sure to give our owners loads of fun throughout the upcoming jumps season.

“He is a real battler and I loved him as soon as I saw him. He’s such a gentle, friendly horse and all being well will be a regular runner who will win his fair share too - the perfect syndicate horse.

“Mark loved him too and I am delighted he will train him for us.”
