Candescence and Star give us reasons to dream
Thirty Ursa Major owners will be on the Knavesmire tomorrow to cheer on two of our fillies.
Candescence, winner of a Class 3 Sunday Series sprint handicap last time and our earliest two-year-old of 2022, Fortuitous Star, will both be in action at York on Friday - a hugely exciting day for Ursa Major Racing.
The Queen, trained by Mark Walford, contests the Class 2 Fillies’ Handicap over 6f, worth more than £17,000 to the winner and is a 4/1 shot at the time of writing.
She is in fantastic form and should give a good account of herself here. She is so exciting.
Meanwhile, Grant Tuer sends out the exciting prospect Fortuitous Star in a Class 3 Fillies’ Novice Stakes over 5f.
Once she has cracked the start she will be a really good addition to the team.
Both are ridden by Ursa favourite Dougie Costello.
Craig Talbot, Racing Manager, said: “We are so excited for Friday and it is one of our biggest days without a doubt.
“Candescence is now performing at a level where she could run a cracker and only be half way, but she has earned the right to be here and we are so proud of her.
“What she has achieved already has put Ursa on the map and she is now going to be contesting some very good races.
“Star is improving with experience and once she has cracked the start will be a useful prospect - we are thrilled to have Grant on board.
“But what makes tomorrow so special is having so many Ursa owners on course. We remain the best value syndicate out there and this will be a big day, win lose or draw.”
