Melburnian and Battle Angel begin their new lives

Between them they won three races in the Battenbergs and brought countless days of joy to our lives.

But now Battle Angel and Melburnian have started their new live as broodmares in Ireland.

Melburnian was never out of the placings in a short but sweet spell with Rebecca Menzies, recording form figures of 242241, her final start being a stunning win over hurdles.

She is a half sister to Melbourne Cup runner up Heartbreak City, with other winners in her immediate family too.

Battle Angel won for us on the flat and over hurdles for Mark Walford, with Ursa form figures of 1501674576.

She is beautifully bred and from the family of Group 1 winner Coronet

Craig Talbot, Racing Manager, said: “These two mares have been absolutely unbelievable for Ursa Major and will always have their names in our history books.

“They are both stunning mares, Melburnian with her gorgeous white face and socks and Battle Angel being a stunning athletic grey.

“They both have value as broodmares and we cannot wait to see what their second careers bring.

“Thanks to both horses, their trainers and staff and all owners.”
