High hopes for Ursa debutant Texas Boy
The wraps are about to come off one of our most exciting purchases yet - Texas Boy who runs at Newcastle on Monday.
Snapped up by Rebecca Menzies after finishing third at Fairyhouse last month, beaten just half a length, he has been purchased especially to contest the Arena Racing winter £1million all weather bonus scheme.
In the first four on three of his six starts so far, this two year old looks ready to enjoy a fruitful winner and we can’t wait to learn about him tomorrow.
Shouldering top weight and against some sticky opposition, tomorrow will teach us a lot about where we are with him - but a big run is not ruled out at all.
It is especially exciting after Rebecca trained her first Ursa winner on Saturday, with Melburnian scoring over hurdles.
Craig Talbot, Racing Manager, said: “We are delighted to get going with Texas Boy who has been purchased especially for this winter series.
“He has been very popular with owners and we are thrilled to get him out. It’s not an easy start to life in the Battenbergs - there are two or three others who I expect have similar aspirations to ourselves, but we are hopeful he can be in the first three.
“Rebecca got a winner on the board for us on Saturday and it would be very special were she to add to that on Monday night at Newcastle.”
