Ashington set for first Ursa appearance

Classy performer Ashington is set to make his Ursa Major debut this weekend.

The Class 2 hurdle winner, who has also been placed at Cheltenham, makes his Battenberg bow in the 5.00 at Catterick on Saturday for Mark Walford and Jonny Peate.

While his main targets will be over hurdles this winter, this run should give him a great chance of a positive start and he should be competitive.

Racing Manager Craig Talbot said: “It is so exciting to get Ashington out and he has already achieved so much.

“He’s still got plenty of good years ahead of him and we cannot wait to get started with him - Mark is thrilled with how he is training and it should be a fabulous winter ahead.”
