Two runners and loads to look forward to
We were double handed at Newcastle with both Dis Donc and Furax showing they have lots to offer for the rest of 2022.
Dis Donc ran in a very hot Novices’ Limited Handicap over just short of three miles, finishing fourth.
He has now covered his purchase price after just three runs in our colours and will be sent handicap chasing, where he must have a bright future over 2m4f.
Furax was having his first start for almost a year in the three mile handicap hurdle, jumping and shaping really well before tiring from a few hurdles out.
We were delighted with both horses and as long as they come out of their races fine they should both have big spring campaigns ahead.
Alain Cawley, who rode Dis Donc, said: “He jumped well. He’s done everything we wanted of him. I think two and a half miles will be his trip.
“Softer ground and two and a half will be perfect for him. That was a very good race with some Cheltenham horses in and I was still with them five out.
“He should be coming back in the number one slot soon.”
Jamie Hamilton, rider of Furax, added: “I was happy with that. He jumped well, travelled lovely. He’s just got tired from leaving the back straight.
“He’s probably a three mile chaser.”
Micky Hammond, who trains both, said: “Dis Donc will drop to a level now where he is top dog. He still has that bit of class about him.
“He can have a three week break now and hopefully we will have a drop of rain and he should have a good time.
“Furax was entitled to a good blow and I was very pleased with that. He’s a big horse and his future probably lies over fences.”
