Mark Walford stable tour
He’s already saddled numerous winners in the Battenberg silks and 2022 is looking like another exciting year for our string with Mark Walford.
We have nine horses in training with the Cornborough Conjuror and every one of them was looking in rude health when racing manager Craig Talbot caught up with him as our flat horses start out on their paths towards peak fitness and our jumpers get ready for spring.
We would love you to join us and be part of an exciting year with Ursa Major - and you can do just that by hitting the contact us button below - training fees start from as little as £38.50 a month - you won’t find a better real ownership experience.

“She’s looking amazing and has put some weight on. She will be clipped in the next day or two, but is really bright and well.
“She’s had plenty of food and has enjoyed a good break away from the racing environment.
“She won’t need much work to get her race fit, she has been on the walker and will be in work proper from Monday.
“We are aiming her at the Northern Lights final. If we need another run that will be fine. She’s an exciting prospect - we were thrilled with her wins for us on the flat and over hurdles.
“She has lots of ability. She has so much going for her, but we want to avoid very soft ground.”

“She’s come back in looking stronger and is moving well. Last year was a bit of a stop-start season, but she’ll be ready for the turf season and if she comes to hand we may see her have an opener on the all weather.
“This would get the freshness out of her, as at Doncaster last year she beat herself.
“We need 7 or a mile, it doesn’t matter too much. She’s well handicapped, is a good filly, she came second at York and should have won at Carlisle. She’s got a lot of ability.”

“We are making nice progress with him. We are hoping he will make his debut at the end of February, we don’t want to rush him. We want two or three runs and will then put him away for next season.
“We will probably run in a bumper, but we may start him straight over hurdles as he is an exceptional jumper.
“We might be at a stage in six weeks where he has sharpened up enough to win a bumper so we will make the call then.
“He’s doing everything right and is still green but he is lovely. He will be a quality horse but we have to nurture him.”

“He’s in good form with himself. He had a good blow after a piece of work on Wednesday and is just getting his fitness back. We are looking at the end of January or early February to get him back on track.
“He’s really enthusiastic and he’s being ridden twice a week with some good quick work.
“He’s as healthy and happy as ever.”

“He’s come back in looking an absolute picture. I rode him myself on Wednesday and he felt brilliant.
“He’s fresh and really well. We are so pleased to have him. We will hopefully go to York and be competitive. Every jockey we have spoken to who has ridden him liked him.
“He won’t improve but he will be great fun and we will go hurdling with him too. I just don’t want to do that early in the season. He is a fast ground horse.
“He’s not really a big fan of the all weather but we will be looking at getting him out on the grass around April.
“I am looking forward to him, we are going to have a lot of fun.”

“Kodimoor is still enjoying his holidays as he was still running in December. He’s a legend and will be back before we know it.”

“He’s looking sublime in the sun and we are reaching a crucial stage with him. Everything is good so far.
“We’ve got a chance with him and we will find out in the next three or four weeks what we have got.
“Everything’s gone nicely, he’s stronger behind. Now’s time to push on and see what we have.”

“We are really happy with her. She’s a bit hairy and is due a clip in the next couple of days. The farrier has sorted her feet and she has done a nice bit of work to get her started.
“We are happy to have her as a new arrival, she’s a good mover and we have given her some much needed TLC.
“She seems straight-forward and while she has her best form on heavy I don’t think it’s the be all and end all.
“She’s not the biggest horse and on pedigree is a chaser but we will start her over hurdles in March time.”

“She’s looking fantastic, we have given her a bit of a longer break and will be starting work on Monday.
“She’s been on the horse walker all through her holiday. We found a little niggle with her after her last run, but that’s had loads of time now. It was nothing major.
“She’s grown a fair bit and had a decent break to strengthen up. She showed ability last year, is a strong traveller, but wasn’t finishing her races.
“We have her right now and the winner of her last race has won three times now. We are happy with her and will be starting around 7f/1m.”
