Katie Scott is a dedicated dual-purpose racehorse trainer based in the Scottish Borders. Her equestrian journey began in her youth, actively participating in hunting, pony club events, and British Showjumping Association (BSJA) competitions. At 17, Katie took over training her family’s point-to-pointers, achieving 19 winners and numerous placings in point-to-points and hunter chases by the age of 26. She obtained her National Hunt training license in early 2015 and expanded to flat racing in 2017.

Katie’s training facility is nestled in the heart of the Scottish Borders, utilizing natural hills as gallops to provide varied workouts for her horses. This approach ensures that young horses continually learn and seasoned horses remain fresh and content. She emphasizes regular dressage and pole work to keep her horses supple and mentally stimulated, laying a solid foundation for their future, including life after racing.

Beyond racing, Katie has a background in competitive show jumping, having represented Scotland in her pony club years. She is committed to maintaining high standards, ensuring her horses are immaculately turned out on race days, reflecting her dedication to both her horses’ well-being and the sport’s image.
