Julie Camacho
Julie Camacho, born in November 1966, is a distinguished British racehorse trainer specializing in flat racing. She operates from Star Cottage Stables near Malton, North Yorkshire, alongside her husband and assistant trainer, Steve Brown. Julie assumed the training license from her father, Maurice Camacho, in 1998, continuing the family’s deep-rooted involvement in horse racing.
Throughout her career, Julie has achieved significant milestones. In 2018, she celebrated her first Group race victory when Judicial clinched the Group 3 Sprint Stakes at Sandown Park. This success was amplified in 2023 when Shaquille secured wins in both the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and the July Cup at Newmarket. These triumphs not only marked her inaugural Group 1 victories but also made her the first female trainer in Britain to surpass £1 million in prize money within a single season.
Julie and Steve manage a stable of approximately 65 flat horses and are also involved in breeding racehorses. Their collaborative approach has solidified their reputation within the racing community.
