Iain Jardine

From his base at Hetlandhill, Carrutherstown Iain’s main objective is to have a cheery and experienced team of staff helping to produce healthy and happy horses to give patient owners the best chance of winning!

he can offer first class facilities for both Flat and National Hunt enthusiasts and their horses. Iain welcomes horses from either discipline and enjoys training both.

This isn’t the first time Iain has been at Hetlandhill. After taking part in the Scottish Borders Common Riding’s, Pony Racing and riding in Flapping Races as a boy, Iain concentrated on becoming a jockey. His career started with Mick Naughton in Yorkshire before coming to Hetlandhill as a Conditional Jockey to Scottish Champion Trainer Len Lungo here at Hetlandhill. A lot of what Iain learned with Len, has been carried forward to his training techniques today. From Len’s, Iain then went on to work for Yorkshire Trainer, Ferdy Murphy before coming back to Scotland to work for Peter Monteith. Laterally he rode freelance for Scottish and Northern Trainers including Ali Whillans. Iain’s experience as a jockey helps him greatly in his training career.
