Event's closest friend pays tribute to "Sivvy"
The woman closest to Event of Sivola has paid tribute to a horse who “didn’t have a bad bone in his body”.
Christine Frampton looked after Event at Mark Walford’s throughout his five years with us - the pair were an unmissable duo on the racecourse.
Christine won numerous Best Turned Out awards for her beautiful presentation of Event, while her bond with the horse was so special, one of our owners event presented her with an original painting of him jumping his beloved Hexham fences.
Now Christine has penned her own tribute to “Sivvy”, which we have decided to publish in full, below.
From all of us at Ursa Major, thank you Christine.
She said: “First of all I just want to thank everyone for all the lovely messages and comments after the loss of Event yesterday.
“Mark Walford did a brilliant job training him. He wasn’t without problems, but the last couple of years he filled out and got even stronger, the one thing he was good at was eating!
“You might say he got his moneys worth, especially when Tim fed him!! He was a quiet horse didn’t have a bad bone in his body and loved to go out in the paddock and often would babysit the young ones or the naughty ones.
“I remember the day before he ran in the finals at Carlisle he had just been fed his dinner and I wasted to wash his tail and white socks, I took him round to the wash area and he pulled away, got loose ran back round onto the lane straight back to his box to finish his dinner! He wasn’t having that!
“Thanks to everyone in the yard for putting up with me moaning about washing sweat off his head, big thanks to Kate for all the veterinary treatment and also to poor Will who had to take care of everything yesterday and rang me soon as he could.
“Also to Bella Sowray, he had a wonderful month in her care before he came in after only 8 weeks off. Not forgetting Craig Talbot and all at the syndicate for giving me the pleasure of looking after such a beautiful horse RIP EVENT OF SIVOLA (Sivvy).”
