WINNER! Fenna's Loss blows them away as he wins on Ursa debut

Fenna’s Loss laid down a marker for the future by storming to a five-and-a-half length win on his Ursa Major debut.

The five-year-old gelding pulled clear in the home straight of the 2m bumper at Hexham, landing the spoils very easily for Sean Quinlan and Mark Walford, who was completing a double on the day.

The exciting Irish recruit had been backed from 8/1 to an 11/4 SP and had been doing everything right at home.

Yet the manner of his victory still came as a surprise, winning as he liked.

Quinlan said: “He’s a relentless galloper and a very nice horse. He will have no trouble hurdling or chasing. He got there plenty soon enough too. He was a little keen to begin with but soon got on with it and I would keep him to a galloping track.”

Racing Manager Craig Talbot added: “I am a little taken aback by that, he was fantastic. What a debut, I am absolutely thrilled for his owners. We could have a very smart horse on our hands here.”

Mark’s two winners with Marcus Haigh

Our other runner on the card, Melburnian, came fourth over hurdles - she didn’t stay the 2m4f trip and will be winning once she is back to 2m.
