Happy Birthday to us! Six years of Team Battenberg
We are celebrating six years since our first runner - and winner - today with a message of thanks to everyone who has made Ursa Major a success.
With 59 winners and more than £600,000 prize money collected since that incredible day in 2018 when Cape Hideaway got us off to the perfect start, we are delighted to still be the most welcoming and best value syndicate in racing.
So today we thank our legion of owners, the trainers, stable staff and jockeys who have made Team Battenberg even more successful than we could ever imagine.
We have increased the number of winners we have had every year, with last year’s 26 blowing our previous record of 12 out of the water.
But we are not resting on our laurels - and four winners in 2024 shows we are laying down the challenge once again.
From chasers to sprinters, veterans to juveniles, we have done it all - but every year we strive to improve the quality and continue to make our owners delighted with the experience they receive.
We have had winners as northerly as Ayr, as southerly as Lingfield and even and even out west at Chepstow!
Racing Manager Craig Talbot said: “We started out a small group of friends with one horse and here we are six years later with almost 60 winners and 200 owners enjoying the best ownership experience in racing.
“Looking back at some of the memories is truly humbling, from Cape winning with our first ever runner, Candescence winning the Sunday Series, two doubles, Glory and Honour winning on ITV, Curious Rover setting the turf alight with some blistering performances last summer, there are too many to mention.
“We vow to offer racehorse ownership at as close to cost price as possible, while also giving owners the best experience on and off the track possible.
“That’s something I am truly proud of and today I want to thank everyone who has put their faith in us and supported us so far.
“The winners have followed - and I hope we enjoy many, many more years heading in the same direction.”
Trainers who have got us in the winners enclosure, in order, include Mark Walford, George Baker, Stuart Coltherd, Micky Hammond, Katie Scott, Ewan Whillans, Rebecca Menzies, Mike Murphy & Michael Keady, Grant Tuer, Dr Richard Newland, Sam England, Jack Jones and Michael Dods - we thank them and their teams as we look back today.
We have enjoyed winners at: Doncaster, Hexham, Carlisle, Beverley, Ayr, Lingfield, Pontefract, Catterick, Newcastle, Musselburgh, Wolverhampton, Hamilton, Wetherby, Uttoxeter, Ripon, Kelso, Southwell, Cheptsow, Market Rasen, Newbury, Yarmouth, Cartmel, Thirsk, Chelmsford, Haydock and Sedgefield.
